| Description | Islamist, anti-Communist party known as the Partai Keadilan (Justice Party) until April 20, 2002. Party emerged from the Jemaah Tarbiyah, or Tarbiyah movement, a religious movement popular in university campuses linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. Party seeks to revive the Islamist "New Order" imposed by Indonesia's 2nd president Suharto, and a path toward implementing sharia nationwide. Party has been led by Ahmad Syaikhu since October 5, 2020 [Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS)]. |
