Description | Ann Margolin, who has represented Preston Hollow and points north on the city council since 2009, said today that she will not seek re-election in May.
In a surprise announcement released this afternoon, Margolin said that she has decided not to run for a third term “due to increasingly time consuming personal obligations.”
Margolin is a widely respected member of the council known for her familiarity with key issues facing the city.
She won office in 2009 despite being heavily outspent by business executive Brint Ryan, whose $1 million campaign was the most expensive run for a single district council seat in Dallas history.
Margolin had developed deep ties in Preston Hollow and at City Hall before she ran to replace the popular, if irascible, Mitchell Rasansky.
Her experience and network of supporters propelled her through the first campaign. She had nominal competition in her second run and likely would have been easily re-elected to a third term. |
