Description | Louisiana-born porn star Stormy Daniels has ended her year-long flirtation with politics with an announcement that she won't run against Sen. David Vitter.
Daniels had recently declared herself a Republican but her politial publicity has been handled by Democratic operative Brian Welsh. If nothing else, her campaign would have been a reminder of a 2007 sex scandal that Vitter so far appears to have weathered.
Vitter and his Democratic challenger, Rep. Charlie Melancon, are to file reports on their campaign finances with the FEC on Thursday. At the end of last year, Vitter had about $4.5 million in campaign cash, compared to about $2 million for Melancon.
Meanwhile, another well-known candidate, former state Rep. James David Cain, has said he may enter the race. |
