William Jefferson's law license suspended

| Description | NEW ORLEANS – The latest in a long line of setbacks and legal loses for former Congressman William Jefferson as the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled to suspend his law license, according to a statement from the court.
“It is ordered that William J. Jefferson, Louisiana Bar Roll Number 7251, be and he hereby is suspended from the practice of law on an interim basis pursuant to supreme court rule xix, 19, pending further orders of this court,” said the ruling.
The court also ruled to suspend William Roe’s law license. Roe was a Plaquemines Parish judge who was found guilty on three felony counts.
In August, Jefferson was found guilty on 11 of 16 charges in his federal bribery case.
The sentencing for Jefferson was delayed until Nov. 13, Judge T.S. Ellis ruled, after his attorneys argued that his defendant had not received the pre-sentence report within the 35 days required before sentencing.
