Description | Prime Minister Stephen Harper thinks Parliament is dysfunctional. Now there’s something on which he and millions of Canadians can agree.
Yes, prime minister, Parliament is broken. It’s a non-functioning cesspool of mutual suspicion, resentment and paralysis. No good laws are being passed or programs promulgated for the common good of our country.
So quit shilly-shallying and call an election. Just do it. Dissolve Parliament, pick up a writ from the Governor General, hit the trail and end the stalemate that is turning federal politics into cheap Vaudeville.
It just can’t keep going like this. Parliament isn’t even sitting officially, yet it is stricken by bickering, grandstanding and infighting that every day diminishes the institution in the eyes of Canadians. |
