Wu endorses Obama, tying up Oregon's superdelegate count

| Description | WASHINGTON -- Rep. David Wu, D-Ore., announced this morning that he is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president.
"I think he is best suited to turn the page on a pretty sorry episode in American history," Wu said.
Wu made his final decision after he had a discussion with Obama about policy issues yesterday, though he declined to name specific issues they discussed.
"I wanted to have a conversation to express my deep concern about some issues that I feel very strongly about," Wu said.
Wu did not attack Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, stating that the Democratic Party has "two very strong candidates for president."
Wu praised Obama's political skills, saying that "he has brought the temperature down in many conversations."
"I think the man is thoughtful and he's a natural conciliator," Wu said. "After the last eight years, we need a real conciliator." |
