Description | It's official: Carl J. Lanke won Tuesday's special election to replace suspended Miramar City Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman.
Broward County's Canvassing Board certified election results past 11 p.m. Tuesday, declaring Lanke the winner of a close race that the county's elections supervisor, Brenda Snipes, called a "nail-biter."
Of the more than 2,500 votes cast in the race, Lanke got nearly 500 votes. And 13 votes are all that separated him from his closest opponent, Barbara Sharief.
