DescriptionTory Leader Hugh McFadyen has been hoofing it around St. Norbert hoping to pilfer the seat from the NDP, but the New Democrats don't appear too worried.
McFadyen campaigned with Tory candidate Tara Brousseau Thursday afternoon, schmoozing shoppers at the Fort Richmond Plaza. He dropped in again Friday morning to unveil the last of his week-long crime-fighting promises. That was at least his fourth visit to the constituency, a lot even for a leader who typically visits three or four ridings a day.

St. Norbert is among the suburban enclaves targeted by the Tories. For years it was the stronghold of Tory MLA Marcel Laurendeau, but NDP MLA Marilyn Brick stole it in 2003 by 745 votes.

Rounding out the unusual all-female list of candidates is Liberal Wendy Bloomfield, chairwoman of the Seine River school board and a staffer at Manitoba Family Services and Housing.

Like the rest of the campaign, though, the race in the city's southern-most riding is just puttering along with little outward sign that crabby voters are girding for change.
