You may never have heard of Billy Harper, but the Republican is spending millions to change that.
With the 2007 filing deadline about a month away, Harper is the only gubernatorial candidate already running television ads.
Harper's campaign says he's spent more than $2 million on ads since October in a bid to snatch the party nomination away from Gov. Ernie Fletcher, for whom he was finance chairman in the 2003 campaign.
The Paducah businessman said in a recent interview that the five ads he's run so far, with more still to come, are aimed at boosting his name recognition and focusing the debate early on education. |
