Description | Lt. Gov. Bruce Johnson, the governor's chief economic policy advocate, will resign Dec. 8 to join the private sector, the administration announced today.
Gov. Bob Taft does not intend to replace Johnson as his second in command, leaving the state without a lieutenant for about a month. Taft leaves office at midnight Jan. 7 because of term limits. In the interim, Senate President Bill Harris would be next in line to succeed the governor.
Johnson, who served as director of the Ohio Department of Development since 2001 and as lieutenant governor since 2005, said in a statement he was honored to serve. |
