Description | Reno police say state controller Kathy Augustine was murdered. She was found unconscious in her Reno home on July 8. Four days later her family took her off life support.
Reno police say Augustine's husband, Chaz Higgs, is the prime suspect in her death. A warrant was issued for his arrest and around 3 this afternoon, Higgs was arrested in Hampton, Virginia and is now in custody on suspicion of murder.
Higgs was working as a critical care nurse at the time of Augustine's death. Police now believe he gave her an injection of succinylcholine chloride, a drug used by anesthesiologists that causes paralysis. They say a toxicology test performed at the FBI laboratories in Quantico, Virginia, confirmed their suspicions. |
