| Description | [Fox] McKeithen, 58, died Saturday of complications from an infection that had left him hospitalized since June 21. He had been paralyzed from the neck down since he fell at his home on Feb. 17.
He had resigned Friday, with a letter signed by his relatives.
McKeithen's letter was signed by his daughter, Baton Rouge lawyer Marjorie Ann McKeithen, with power of attorney. Her signature on her father's behalf was witnessed by Yvonne McKeithen, Fox's McKeithen's former wife, and another of his daughters, Marianne M. Garon.
McKeithen's resignation was not announced Friday because it came late in the day, said Jennifer Marusak, a spokeswoman for the secretary of state. |
