Description | Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn plans to shut down a block of Congress Avenue north of the Capitol on Saturday for what appears likely to be her declaration of a campaign against Rick Perry for governor or conceivably a bid for lieutenant governor.
A political operative close to Strayhorn's camp said he understands she's running for governor. The operative spoke on condition of anonymity, saying he fears retribution from Perry.
"She can't wait any longer because this race is over in March," the operative said, referring to the March 7, 2006, Republican primary. |
