Description | LISBON (Reuters) - Portugal's opposition Socialists have vowed to hold a referendum to ease strict abortion laws if they win snap elections next month.
The referendum and reduction of the public work force by 75,000 employees are part of the Socialists' program to be released formally on Saturday evening, platform architect Antonio Vitorino said.
Polls show the Socialists led by former environment minister Jose Socrates are well ahead of the ruling Social Democrats before the Feb. 20 elections |
