Description | State Rep. Paul McEachern (D-Portsmouth) told friends Tuesday he will make a fourth-bid in governor securing that a pro-income tax Democrat will be on the ballot and possibly ending one of the most ununusal months in modern state politics as Democrats tried to keep track who in their party was running and who wasn't.
McEachern will file his candidacy tomorrow. This will be his fourth attempt for governor, all three previous attempts were in the 1980s. He was the Democratic nominee in 1986 and 1988.
Two years ago McEachern served as the campaign chair for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mark Fernald. While Fernald was eventually defeated by Gov. Craig Benson, McEachern was the top vote-getter out of 16 candidate district for a state representative.
