Description |
The Prime Minister's title, which has four meanings, is identical to that of Syria's Prime Minister, evocative of the state of affairs that existed when Egypt and Syria were united as the United Arab Republic (UAR; الجمهورية العربية المتحدة) from 1958 until September 1971, when it was dissolved by former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. The Prime Minister's most important duty is to supervise and direct the activities of his/her 'cabinet' ministers as "President of Council of Ministers," per the Constitution promulgated in 2014.
