Position was previously the Minister of Investment until a Ministry of the Public Business Sector was founded on March 23, 2016. The office of the Minister of Investment was then abolished in 2018. Position was reinstated in the second Mustafa Madbouly government on July 3, 2024 and renamed the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.
