Regional Councils are the highest decision-making bodies of a region (aka, welfare region; hyvinvointialueet; välfärdsområden). The Council selects members of all regional government bodies and institutions in the area, and is responsible for their operation and finances. The Vantaa and Kerava Regional Council is responsible for the welfare of the cities of Kerava (Kervo) and Vantaa (Vanda) within the Province of Uusimaa. Council has 69 councilors. The Council is led by a chairman, who is elected by majority vote of the Council.
