One of 19 regional federations (provinces) in Finland and its most populous, containing 1,771,756 people (as of June 30, 2024). Region produces close to 40 percent of Finland's gross domestic product. Helsinki is the region's center, and the nation's capital. Uusimaa province is a union of 26 municipalities (kuntaan), split into four sub-regions (seutukuntaan).
