Info | John P. "Jumping Johnny" De Fazio
At the young age of 36, DeFazio became the International Staff Representative for the United Steelworkers of America. Currently Mr. DeFazio is the Director of the United Steel Workers of America in Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Marsha have six children and live in Shaler.
A former professional wrestler, Mr. DeFazio was known as "Jumpin Johnny" in the 1960s and 70s. He appeared in several matches on Channel 11's Saturday broadcast of "Studio Wrestling". DeFazio was booked to win the WWWF (now WWE) Junior Heavyweight Championship 4 times and he also held the WWF International Tag Team Title once with the late Newton Tattrie (better known as Geeto Mongol, who at the time was also the booker in the Pittsburgh territory). While "Jumpin Johnny" was in recess during the week, Mr. DeFazio followed his father's footsteps to the steel mills. At the ripe age of 29, he won the presidency of his local union at the plant.
Mr. DeFazio serves on the Maglev Board and as coordinator of the civil rights committee in western Pennsylvania. He was also chairman of the Shaler Democratic committee. Mr. DeFazio has always seen himself as a "Man of the People," "I'd like to be more accountable to the people, trying to do what the majority of the people want."
