InfoRep. Laurie B. Donovan, a Republican, represents part of North St. Louis County (District 74) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

She is presently serving on the boards of the Children's Trust Fund, the Magdala Foundation, START, and Places for People. She has been a strong advocate for disabled persons and programs that will improve their lives.

Her significant legislative accomplishments include: a 1983 bill that established the MRDD St. Louis area Transportation Trust Fund; a 1986 and a 1990 Solid Waste bill; a 1991 Children's Trust Fund bill; a 1984 School Bus License Plate bill; the Children's Trust Fund License Plate Bill in 1995; and the civil commitment bill in 1996.

In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Donovan is a homemaker.

A daughter of Italian immigrants, she is a 1950 graduate of Little Falls High School in Little Falls, NY. She earned a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute in 1957 and a M.A. from Syracuse University in 1961. From 1952 to 1957, she worked as a fashion designer in New York City for Coats and Clark Inc. where she designed women's clothing and home furnishings which were featured in women's magazines. She was an instructor in joint programs in Fine Arts and Home Economics at Syracuse University from 1957-1961. In addition, she taught classes in textiles, history of costume and fashion merchandising at the University of Missouri-St. Louis from 1978 to 1981 as a part-time instructor.

Rep. Donovan is married to William P. Donovan and resides in the Florissant-Spanish Lake area. They have four sons: Peter, Thomas, David, and William R.
