Info | Linda Hoback Greenwell was born in May of 1949 to Vergie Mae Williams Hoback of Graves County and Lewis B. Hoback of Larue County. Lindas maternal relatives still live in Graves County. Some of her paternal relatives have gravitated to Hardin County.
Linda moved to Spencer County in 1992. When she attempted to register to vote, she was advised, If you register as a Republican, you cant vote in this county. In order to vote here in this county, you will have to register as a Democrat. She vowed to make a change in that attitude and nullify that statement.
Her first experience with a campaign was when her friend and neighbor Bill Karrer ran as a Republican candidate for County Judge Executive in Spencer County. The voter ratio was nine Democrats to every Republican, but Candidate Karrer lost by only 57 votes. During that election, there were violations in election laws and when Linda brought these violations to the authorities attention, she was treated as though she was the violator and was only trying to upset the cart! The Democrat cart!
Linda was serving as Vice-Chair when Bill Karrer was unable to continue his duties as County Chair of the Spencer County Republican Party; Linda was installed as County Chair. Today the voter ratio is now two Democrats for each Republican. She vows to continue to work on building the Republican Party in Spencer County. Linda is a member of the Kentucky Federation of Republican Women.
After graduating from the University of Louisville in 1978 with a degree in Police Administration, Linda concentrated on raising her family while tutoring elementary students part-time in the public school system. As the children became more independent, Linda began working full time for a medical practice until she started her personal business in 1984. She sold her business and retired in 1992 to move back into a country setting; something she had missed since childhood. After two years of retirement, Linda went to work for United Parcel Service where she is still employed as an Operations Management Specialist in Jefferstown, Kentucky.
Linda and Bill have four children and five grandchildren. Since 1972, Linda and her husband, Bill Greenwell have dedicated their time for the WHAS Crusade For Children, a charity founded by the Bingham family of Louisville to help needy children. Linda is currently the Spencer County Red Cross Coordinator and continues to head the Spencer County Republican Party.
Bill and Linda are active members of All Saints Catholic Church in Taylorsville, Kentucky.
Linda has always been active in her local community and is now prepared to step into the state arena
