Richard D. Tulisano was a principal in the LAW OFFICE OF RICHARD D. TULISANO, LLC. Attorney Tulisano's office is in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Engaged in general practice of Law, his practice included Probate, Commercial and residential real estate, criminal law, and land use law. Mr. Tulisano was affiliated with the Office of Claudia Baio & Associates, who assisted him in all areas of law, including personal injury, and other issues requiring litigation. Mr. Tulisano was engaged in the practice of Law since 1969.
A former State Representative from the 29th District, he served as House Chairman of the Judiciary Committee for six years from 1979 to 1985, and again from 1987 to 1993, and until his Legislative retirement as House Majority Whip. He later served as House Democrat's Chief of Staff. Mr. Tulisano also served as a member of the Legislature's Regulations Review Committee, the Connecticut Law Revision Commission, the Commission on Child Support Guidelines, the Commission on Children, and the Connecticut Columbus' Quincentenary Commission.
From the outset of his political career, Mr. Tulisano gained the reputation as a strong advocate in the formation of public policy, and the defense of individual liberties. He was responsible for a wide range of bills promoting civil liberties, including legislation providing compensation for crime victims, legislation barring strip searches by police, and the phase-out of the controversial Supervised Home Release Program.
A former published member of the American Anthropological Association, Mr. Tulisano was a member in a wide range of professional organizations: Wethersfield Knights of Columbus, The Hartford Chapter of UNICO; The Italian American Bar Association, and Sons of Italy.
During his public career, Tulisano received numerous awards, including the 1990 Civil Justice Award of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the 1987 Distinguished Alumni Award of the University of Connecticut School of Law, the Wethersfield-Rocky Hill Elks Distinguished Citizen Award in 1984, the Sons of Italy Golden Lion Award, the 1991 Community Service Award of the Rocky Hill Chamber of Commerce, and the 1989 Child Advocacy Leadership Award.
Richard Tulisano was married to the former Beverly DeMello.
