Info | Dylan Coburn Glenn was sworn in as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue of Georgia on Inauguration Day, 2003. Glenn's portfolio included all External Affairs during his nine months serving Georgia's first Republican Governor since Reconstruction.
A native Georgian, Glenn returned to his home state this year after serving two years as Special Assistant to the President of the United States. While at the White House, he was a member of the National Economic Council team advising the President on various economic concerns. He has enjoyed a personal relationship with this President since serving as a student intern on the 1988 Bush for President campaign.
Dylan grew up in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Spurgeon and Fleda Glenn. He attended Pacelli High School in Columbus before going on to The Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and he received his BA degree from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1991.
Following his graduation from college, Glenn worked in Washington, DC in Public Relations and Political Consulting. He was one of the founders of The Earth Conservation Corps, a White House initiative under President George H. W. Bush. This organization provides opportunity to at-risk youth through serious environmental conservation work. Dylan served on the Board of Directors of this organization including a stint as Chairman of the Board.
In 1992, he was organizer and director of the Black Salute to the President, representing the various appointees of our 41st President. In 1996, he was a traveling press aide to Republican Vice-Presidential nominee, Jack Kemp.
He was Special Advisor to the Commission on Minority Business Development and was actively involved with GOPAC and the Republican National Committee. He also served as an advisor to the Chairman of Republican National Conventions in 1992 and 1996.
He returned to Georgia in 1997 and was a candidate for Congress in the Second Congressional District. As his party's nominee in 2000, he received the highest number of votes ever cast for a Republican in this southwest Georgia district.
Dylan was founder and director of the South Georgia Economic Development Corporation, formed to assist economic growth in the poorest part of his state. In that capacity, he was involved with educational reform and was a major player in bringing innovative programs into several school systems in South Georgia.
In October 1999, Georgia Trend Magazine named Dylan Glenn one of the 40 outstanding Georgians under 40.
