Info | Tim Murtaugh was chosen Chairman of County Council in January 2004 after serving for two years as Vice-Chairman. He was reelected to a second four-year term on County Council in November 2001. He represented the Third Ward as a member of the Ridley Township Board of Commissioners from 1980 until taking his seat on Council in January 1998. He was President of the Ridley Commissioners from 1992 and during his 18-year tenure served on the Library Board, Building Committee and Contract Negotiating Team as well as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
His direct areas of responsibility as County Councilman include the Executive Director, County Clerk, Solicitor, Services for the Aging and Veterans Affairs. Areas of special concentration include Insurance, Library Services, Retirement, Housing Authority and Community Transit.
Mr. Murtaugh was a player, coach and manager from 1965-77 in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system. He is a senior account agent for Allstate Insurance Company. He is a graduate of Holy Cross College, Worcester, Massachusetts, and from St. James High School, Chester. He is married, has two sons and is a resident of Ridley Township.
