Info | While not a native to the Omaha area, Mayor Mike Fahey adopted the city as his own more than 30 years ago. Born and raised in Kansas City, Fahey followed his brother to Omaha in the early 70's to attend Creighton University where he graduated in 1973. He believed Omaha was the best place to grow a small business and raise a family.
Following graduation, Mayor Fahey intended to go to law school but instead started a small title insurance business. In 1990, he sold American Land Title Company, but remained on board as its CEO guiding the title company, as it became one of the nation's largest. He is now retired from the company.
Although he managed large budgets, met a payroll, and created hundreds of jobs, Fahey's most rewarding job is the role of father. Fahey has four grown children, three sons and a daughter.
Always interested in the Omaha community, Fahey has served on the boards of Holy Name Housing, The American Red Cross Heartland Chapter and Creighton Prep High School. For ten years, starting in 1981, Fahey served on the Omaha Planning Board and was chairman for many of those years.
Fahey has always been active in Omaha politics but until last year had never been a candidate. He was sworn into office June 12, 2001.
