Info | As an Independent, every vote in the House of Commons is a free vote. This means that if the governing party, for example, wants to build houses in your area. That area has flooded before (work colleagues went round with sandbags in Great Yarmouth), and because there is nothing spent on infrastructure, the chance of flooding increases. The Party 'whips' (enforcers) say you have to vote with them, as an MP for that Party, they have little or no choice. Independents have no such worries. Independents vote for what is right for their constituents, not the governing party.
