Info | Law clerk
Grandson of State Rep. Richard Olasz
Anthony J. Olasz (A.J.) was born into a family with deep roots in the Allegheny County communities of West Mifflin, Baldwin, Whitehall, Liberty, Glassport and Dravosburg. AJ's grandfather, Richard Olasz served as both an effective and popular State Representative in the 38th Legislative District and a founding member of the Allegheny County Council. AJ's father has served as a highly respected Magisterial District Judge in the community for over 30 years, and his mother, Diane once served on the West Mifflin Board of School Directors. The Olasz family is committed to community service.
After graduating from West Mifflin High School, where AJ excelled academically as well as in sports, lettering for 3 years in both baseball and football, he moved on to college. AJ received his undergraduate degree at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a star pitcher for the Bearcats. He then attended law school at Northern Kentucky University where he obtained his juris doctor. On his summer breaks from law school, AJ gained valuable experience working as a legal intern in the Allegheny County Office of the District Attorney.
Upon completing law school, AJ has been with the firm of Dodaro, Matta & Cambest P.C. as a law clerk while he completes his studies for the Bar exam. The Firm specializes in Municipal & School Law, which is a great benefit to understanding the complex laws that affect the communities he will be serving as a state representative.
Through his work with the District Attorney, speaking with his father and through his current position with Dodaro, Matta & Cambest, AJ has learned empathy for people experiencing challenges that derail their lives. He understands most people entering the Criminal Justice System wrestle with an underlying problem whether it be mental health, addiction or any of many other issues. Through helping people to address those issues, as a State Representative A.J. knows he can help countless people live happier, more productive lives. A ballplayer knows everyday you have a chance to perform a little better.
AJ and his black lab, Patty currently live in West Mifflin. AJ spends his time away from his law practice as a Volunteer Baseball Coach with the West Mifflin Varsity/Junior Varsity, who won the 2022 WPIAL Championship. He also enjoys golfing with his father, and occasionally winning.
