Info | Paul Krispin Hubbs, Sr.
This well known citizen and old pioneer, died suddenly Tuesday at Vallejo, of heart disease. Of his history the Chronicle says:
Deceased was 75 years of age being born in New Jersey in 1799. He came to California in 1869, on the ship Susan B. Oceans.
He was a prominent man in the early political history of the State. He was elected the first Superintendent of Public Instruction in the State, represented Tuolumne in the State Senate in 1851-52, the year the Capitol was located at Vallejo. Other positions which he had held, we have not time to mention.
He settled down at Benicia in 1852 where he lived a number of years. He afterwards removed to Washington Territory, and thence came to Vallejo where he lived till the period of his death.
