| Info | Peter Hernandez is a first generation Mexican-American immigrant. He was born and raised in San Benito County by parents who worked the fields, and he grew up in the agricultural community. He bought his first bike after working as laborer in the Apricots Orchards. He attended San Benito High School in Hollister.
As a family man, he loves spending time with his wife Karina, and his four children.
Peter is a local small business owner. He and his wife built Ohana Shave Ice in Hollister to "bring the flavors of the islands to the mainland." They enjoy seeing their business serve the community.
His passion and creativity have extended into public service. He served 4 years on the Hollister School District board and was then elected to the San Benito County Supervisors and is serving his first term. With support of the San Benito County Board of supervisors, and in partnership with the city of Hollister he brought the Downtown revitalization project to become a reality. With the same support he successfully negotiated a 99 year lease with the San Benito High School, and is now in phase one of building out a 30 million dollar Regional Park. The Riverview Regional Park is spending 4.5 million dollars on the first phase of this exciting new park!
