Info | Michele Raymond has lived in Halifax Atlantic since 1963 and has worked tirelessly to make it a better place for all residents. In 2003 she became Halifax Atlantic's new NDP MLA.
Educated at Yale and Dalhousie, Michele has been active in a variety of local, municipal and provincial issues to preserve and protect the diverse communities of Halifax Atlantic and its distinctive quality of life. She founded the Urban Farm Museum Society of Spryfield in 1996, and has recently been working to reactivate the Northwest Arm ferry.
Michele has worked with the Nova Scotia Museum and the HRM Heritage Advisory Committee and is currently the vice-president of the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia.
She is a member of the Northwest Arm Heritage Association, has served as President of the Mainland South Heritage Society and sat on the Captain William Spry Centre's interim board and the John W. MacLeod school site-planning committee. Michele has a law degree and Canadian Securities Institute certification.
Michele has worked as an editor and researcher and recently co-authored a book on the Northwest Arm. She has been awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal. Michele is the NDP critic for the Environment and for the Human Rights Act.
