| Info | Mike MacSween was born and raised in Cape Breton, originally from Leitches Creek. He attended Riverview Rural High School in Coxheath, and recently graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Certificate in Public Administration from the University College of Cape Breton.
During his time at UCCB, Mike was actively involved in a number of student organizations. In 2000, he was elected as Arts and Letters Representative on the UCCB Students' Representative Council. He was also elected to the national executive of the Canadian Federation of Students, which has a membership of over 450,000 students nationwide.
In 2001, Mike was elected President of the UCCB Students' Union. In this role, he was a spokesperson and advocate on behalf of all UCCB students. He administered a budget of $1.5 million and managed over 60 student and full-time staff.
Mike also served as Coordinator of UCCB's on-campus student food bank for 3 years.
