InfoDirector of Security, Broadmoor Hotel

Greg founded and established G.A. Maxwell Construction, Inc., a general contracting corporation, in 1995 shortly after moving to Colorado Springs from Indianapolis. He successfully owned and managed his construction company until 2014. His company built residential and commercial properties throughout Colorado's Front Range.

While president and CEO of G.A. Maxwell Construction, Inc., Greg served on the Housing and Building Association, and was a board member on the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. No stranger to building in the county, Greg’s background is unique, as he has extensive experience and a base of support both inside and outside of policing.

Greg began his service to El Paso County in 2002 by volunteering as a Chaplain for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO). While learning this role for the sheriff’s office, he helped multiple agencies in the area establish Chaplain programs. He also orchestrated the development of the Chaplain training program. This model program has since been adopted by departments outside of Colorado.

With a strong family background in law enforcement, Greg was selected and completed the EPSO Reserve Academy in 2005. He actively worked assignments in detentions and patrol, and in special operations assignments such as the Crime Reduction Unit, he was a K-9 handler, and he worked for a number of years handling a wide variety of calls from citizens needing police assistance.

Working security for a number of events, Greg established and developed close working relationships with event planners and security infrastructure at the Air Force Academy during cadet graduations and football games for the last 16 years. He has also worked events such as the Pikes Peak Rodeo, El Paso County Fair, and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, all while maintaining close working relationships with law enforcement entities in surrounding counties.

Greg was promoted to Sergeant in the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reserves in 2007. The reserve program, under his leadership, served as a model for reserve programs both inside and outside of Colorado for the last 15 years. In 2015, Greg joined EPSO as a full-time Lieutenant, and was assigned to the Special Operations Section, where he oversaw the EPSO School Resource Officer (SRO) program, Mounted Section, Cadet Program, Rural Enforcement Unit, Chaplain Unit, Reserve Unit, Marijuana Compliance, Homeless Outreach, and the Citizen Patrol Section.

In 2017, Greg founded the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Foundation, to better serve the member's of the Sheriff’s Office. The foundation’s purpose is to build a partnership between citizens, businesses, and the sheriff’s office to better serve the community.

Greg left full-time law enforcement in 2017 when he was hired on the spot to become the Director of Security for the internationally known Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, a position he continues to hold with honor and dedication to this day. In this position, Greg has established close working relationships with the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and private security details from around the world.

Greg is surrounded by family and friends. Having vacationed in Colorado Springs before moving here permanently in 1989 from Indianapolis, he loves the outdoors and can often be found camping and fishing during his time away from work. He continues to serve in the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Lieutenant.

Greg comes from a family lineage of law enforcement professionals, to include his father, both paternal grandparents, as well as his maternal grandfather having served the public as sworn law enforcement professionals at the Indianapolis Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Greg has been awarded the Sheriff's Achievement Award on three occasions, as well as the Meritorious Service Award and is one of two people to have ever received the Sheriff's Community Impact Individual Award (see below). Greg also has numerous Letters of Commendation during his service to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
