InfoLloyd St. Amand was first elected as Member of Parliament for Brant in June of 2004 and was re-elected in 2006.

Lloyd was elected and served as Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development. He has also been a member of several Caucus Committees as well as a member of several Parliamentary Friendship Associations.

Lloyd received his B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1974 and continued his studies in law at the University of Windsor, graduating in 1977 with his L.L.B. Upon graduation from the University of Windsor, Lloyd articled in Sarnia and was called to the bar in 1979.

Since being called to the bar in 1979, Lloyd has been involved in private legal practice in Brantford, principally in the area of litigation, and more particularly the areas of family and criminal law.

For the past 25 years Lloyd has been an active member of the Brantford and Brant community. He was an active member of the Board of Directors for the Big Brothers of Brantford and District for 4 years and was a Big Brother for 10 years. Lloyd was active in the Brantford Church Hockey league. In addition, he coached a Select Team that participated in various tournaments outside of Brant.

Lloyd also served on the Board of Directors of the Brant Waterways Foundation. This foundation assists in the maintenance of the Trans Canada Trail which runs through Brant.

As a member of the Board of Trustees at St. Joseph's Hospital in Brantford for 9 years, Lloyd chaired various subcommittees, including the Public Relations Committee, the Planning Committee, and the Search and Nomination Committee. In addition, Lloyd was one of the early members of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Brant serving as its Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Most recently, Lloyd was an active member of the Board of Directors of the Nova Vita Women's Services.

Lloyd has been active in local Brant politics for several years. He served as President of the Brant Federal Liberal Association for 2 terms and remained on the executive for many years.

Lloyd was born in Sarnia on November 10, 1952. He currently lives in Brantford and is in a long term relationship with Helen.
