Info | George Wythe Randolph was born in Charlottesville, Virgina. He started his career in the Navy and then became a lawyer. He was commissioned a Major in the Confederate Army but quickly became a Brigadier General. He was appointed to the position of Secretary of war for the Confederacy (1862) but resigned after ony 8 months because of conflicts with Confederacy President Jefferson Davis.
His mother was Martha "Patsy" Jefferson, daughter of President Thomas Jefferson.
