InfoKeith Purdy lives with his partner of fourteen years, Rick, and has been a Calgary resident for fifteen years. He has devoted much of his time to serving his community. In 2003 he was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for Lifetime Achievement and Community Service. Many adult education courses have added to his knowledge. Keith currently works as a General Contractor.

Keith completed Grade Thirteen at Ontario Secondary School, receiving an Honour Graduation Diploma. He spent one year at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario studying music. Since that time he has taken courses in: Public Speaking & Parliamentary Procedure, Bargaining and Negotiating, Dealing with Difficult People, Human Rights, Homophobia and Heterosexism and Adult Education and Workshop Facilitation

Keith spent three years with the Canadian Armed Forces serving in the field of Medical Services. He worked for thirteen years as a long-term health care employee at Southwood Nursing Home. He then spent a year as Kitchen Manager at the Verge Restaurant. He currently works as a General Contractor.

His community involvement includes: Past President of CUPE Local 8, past Co-Chair Pride Calgary Association, past Co-Chair GLBT CUPE Caucus, past Alternate CUPE National Pink Triangle Committee, member of Save the General (Hospital), member of Friends of Medicare, past Co-Chair Continuing Care Employees Committee – CUPE. He is a founding member of Diversity in Society Coalition and a member of the Coalition for Human Rights Challenge (Alberta Health & Welfare). He is also a member of Royal Canadian Legion #285

For Keith’s service and dedication to his community he received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal - Lifetime Achievement & Community Service. He also received the Longterm Care Employee of the Year from CUPE Alberta.
