Info | Ruth Dugan is a non-profit executive, mother of seven, and a grandmother of 20. The daughter of holocaust survivors, Ruth’s lifelong commitment to public service was inspired by her parents at an early age.
Throughout her career, Ruth’s advocacy-driven work has led her to serve in leadership roles in a number of different sectors, including healthcare, cancer support, and education. From serving as the President of the Saddle River Board of Education, to leading the Gilda’s Club of Northern New Jersey, Ruth’s objective has always been the same – get involved and make a difference.
Ruth knows that good leaders don’t back down from a challenge. In 2006, Ruth made the tough decision to return to her husband’s home of Bayonne to save the town’s struggling hospital. As chair of the Bayonne Hospital, Ruth brought people together from across the political spectrum and successfully collected over 40,000 signatures from community members, pressuring leaders in Trenton and successfully preventing the hospital from closing.
Now, Ruth is running for the New Jersey Senate to bring a fresh perspective to Trenton and do what she does best – work across the aisle to get things done. Ruth is ready to put her healthcare expertise and education background to work for the hardworking New Jersey residents of District 39. Ruth resides in Saddle River with her husband Jim, a renowned attorney, former Democratic Party state Chair, and former State Senator.
