| Info | Ariel Lade, 28, was born and raised in White Rock where he went to school and studied jazz. He moved to Victoria in 1994, majoring in economics and political science at UVic before earning a master's degree in economics and philosophy at the London School of Economics.
Following graduation, Ariel toured Eastern Europe by motorcycle, returning to Victoria just before the current US invasion of Iraq. His economic training and personal beliefs inspired him to join the Green Party of Canada to promote his growing vision of a truly sustainable, green Canadian economy. Ariel believes that green economics offer positive and practical alternatives to the failed policies of subsidizing polluters while increasing the tax burden on Canadian workers and employers. Ariel Lade is committed to world peace and social justice. He says NO! to the Iraq occupation, Bush's missile defence system, and the new arms race; and YES! to a real Kyoto plan, maintaining the offshore BC oil and gas moratorium, mandatory GM food labeling, international peacekeeping, and fair trade.
Lade believes that preventative health care, increased social housing, proper sewage treatment for all Canadian communities, and improved public transit to revitalize the downtown cores of Canada's major cities are positive Green responses to local problems.
