| Info | Donovan Young is a graduate physics student at the University of British Columbia. He has been active in the UBC Marxist-Leninist Study Group for three years. As a student in Montreal, his home city, he was active in the National Youth Commission on the Future of Quebec where he participated in a petition campaign against the militarization of Quebec City during the Summit of the Americas in April 2001. He played an active role in the B.C. Pro-Rep Petition Campaign signed by over 200,000 British Columbians in support of a system of proportional representation. He is also very active in the anti-war movement and on the picket lines during the teaching assistants strike at UBC in 2003. Donovan believes strongly that the people must be empowered to make all the decisions -- political, economic and otherwise -- in society and to achieve this, that people must mobilize themselves to fight for the pro-social agenda wherever they are. Participating in the elections is an excellent opportunity for youth and people in general to do just that, Donovan says.
