Info | I have worked in the social work field for 15 years, and have been on the front lines of serving our community. I have seen first hand the impact of violence as a victims advocate, I witnessed the challenges of navigating government bureaucracy as a case worker, and I have seen the barriers that people who want to create a better life for themselves face. We deserve to have a government that works for us and I am committed to fighting to make government systems work for the people.
As a disaster response volunteer with the American Red Cross, I have seen how climate change is impacting our communities. Like many of us, I watched in horror as the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest Fires destroyed our neighborhoods, and I deployed to New York and saw the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. We must take immediate and meaningful action to protect our environment and I am committed to being a voice for environmental justice.
One of my greatest joys has been volunteering at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. There I am honored to witness the excitement of children as they learn about animals and get to meet a giraffe up close and personal. Children have an insatiable desire to learn and are curious about everything. I am committed to ensuring that our schools can provide a quality education for all students and that we move away from standardized testing. My focus will be on a well-rounded education that will serve students long after they have graduated.
Most importantly, I pride myself on my ethics and honesty. None of my accomplishments or work matters if I am not being true to myself and to my word. I will carry that integrity into the work that I will do on behalf of House District 20. Our district is a diverse area with varying viewpoints on issues. I pledge to always prioritize listening over judging and honesty before politics.
