Info | The son of a Michigan small manufacturing firm owner, Phil Truran grew up understanding the value of hard work and what it meant to keep one's word to working families when times were tough.
After receiving his pilot's license at age 20, Phil Truran left Michigan to serve his country. Phil served in the Navy for five years, gaining the respect of his air crewmates in Operation Deep Freeze and on board the aircraft carrier Nimitz, standing up for shipmates when times were hard. Phil's time in the Navy — shipboard and stateside, in the Antarctic and on the Pacific — led him around the world.
Proud of his service in the Navy, Phil returned home to his native Michigan. After receiving his business degree from Wayne State, Phil founded a small business in Plymouth, passing on the ethic of entrepeneurship to his son Todd and daughter Megan.
Phil Truran, now President of Communication Workers of America Local 4013, works every day fighting to protect the rights and the jobs of Michigan's information-age workers.
Phil today lives in Novi, Michigan near the shores of Walled Lake.
Today, Phil Truran is ready to take the fight to Congress.
