Info | Full name: Kenneth Paul Zebrowski, Sr.
Assemblyman Kenneth P. Zebrowski was born on November 12, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. He attended St. Anthony's Elementary School, Albertus Magnus High School, Fordham University and New York Law School, where he graduated in 1970. Employed by a law firm in Nyack, New York for his first two years of practice, he then formed his own law firm in 1972 with Francis A. Nicolai, now the Administrative Judge of the 9th Judicial District. Assemblyman Zebrowski is a practicing trial attorney in Rockland County, former adjunct professor at Long Island Universitys graduate program and serves as counsel to the Rockland County Public Administrator.
In 2004 he was elected to the N.Y. State Assembly. Prior to his election to the state Assembly, he was elected to the Rockland County Legislature in 1973, 1983, 1987, 1995, 1999 and 2003, and was chairman of the county Legislature for four terms.
While a County Legislator Mr. Zebrowski compiled a record of significant achievement. His legislation was diverse and far-reaching. He established Catskill Regional Off Track Betting as an alternative revenue source to reduce Rockland County taxes every year. Catskill OTB has contributed over 50 Million dollars to Rockland County that lessened the burden to taxpayers. Assemblyman Zebrowski also sponsored and passed the Rockland County Stream Conservation and Universal Flow Control Act to prevent over-development near Rockland County streams and to ensure watershed protection and improved ponding areas. He also initiated programmatic funding to strengthen the Countys effort to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault resulting in the "Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner" (SAFE) Program through the collaboration of the Rockland Family Shelter and Nyack Hospital. The Assemblyman also sponsored and passed legislation that banned the use of the drug ephedra, banned the sale of synthetic steroids to minors, and also strengthened the Rockland County Ethics Law to restore the peoples confidence in the operation of government.
Assemblyman Zebrowski has also participated in many civic organizations. He has served as: assistant coach, New City Girls Softball League; past board member and former coach of the New City Rams (Pop Warner Youth Football); former assistant coach, New City Little League (Boys); board member of Venture, chairman of its finance committee; former board member of Volunteer Counseling Service; former board member of Jawanio; former board member of the Association of Retarded Citizens; former board member of the Grievance Committee of the Rockland County Bar Association; member of Rockland County Bar Association; member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association; member of Rotary International; former chairman of the Nyack Hospital Board of Trustees; former acting president of Nyack Hospital.
Zebrowski has two mottos that explain his commitment as a Legislator:
"I am passionately committed to legislation and the legislative process because it provides me the means to affect meaningful changes to improve the lives of the people I represent."
"The Legislature is the peoples window for immediate access to their government and I believe that the needs of every Rockland County resident are my concern."
He and his wife Linda (Magnatta) are the proud parents of six children:
Kristen is a graduate of Skidmore College, Pace Law School and she received a Masters in Education from the Teachers College of Columbia University. She married Evan Stavisky in June of 2002; Kevin is a graduate of Clemson University and Pace Law School; Kenny is a graduate of the State University at Albany and is in his last year at Seton Hall Law School; Kristopher is a graduate of Clarkstown South High School and is a senior at the State University at Plattsburgh; Kraig was last years Co-Captain of the Varsity Football Team at Clarkstown South High School and is now a freshman at the University of Arizona; Kathryn is a sophomore at Clarkstown South High School and an avid softball player.
Ken's father Vincent is deceased since 1989. His mother Jean Zebrowski resides with Ken and his family.
