InfoA 22-year resident of Clear Creek County, Sean Wood is the founder and chief steward of Stewardship Colorado, LLC, a comprehensive wealth management and financial planning firm. He completed his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY with a minor in Management and then earned a Masters in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Sean enjoyed an exciting and meaningful twenty-year career working in leadership roles with entrepreneurial technology firms based out of California’s Silicon Valley before studying economics and finances extensively to begin a new career as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in 2009 and then found Stewardship Colorado.

Sean is very involved in his community and has donated his management and economic expertise to area non-profits in several leadership roles. He has volunteered as a firefighter in Evergreen since 1995, including serving three terms as president of the Evergreen Fire Department. Sean can also be seen on winter weekends and holidays in a red jacket as a National Ski Patroller at Winter Park Resort where he has volunteered since 2008. He also served as the treasurer for the Mountain Area Midget Football Association (MAMFA) for three years, as well as coached his son’s team to a Carnation Bowl victory. He currently is serving his second year of a three-year term on the Finance Board with Flatirons Community Church, which has an annual budget of $20 million.

The entire Wood family has a real passion for spending time together on whitewater wilderness trips. In 2014 he led a private 17-day expedition down the full 277 river miles on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. Sean serves as the Board Chair for non-profit Get Outside and Learn Something (GOALS), which aims to make these same transformational experiences available to middle and high school kids from any economic background living anywhere in the United States. He also volunteered as a mentor for at-risk youth in the Mt. Evans Qualifying House (Q House), an in-community facility run under the authority of the Colorado Youth Department of Corrections. In addition, he serves on the Investment Committee for Denver Urban Scholars, a Colorado non-profit that aims to increase graduation rates and provide a path to college for disadvantaged youth.

Sean also has a passion to better understand and address third-world poverty and has been to East Africa twice so far, most recently in the fall of 2014 on a trip to the South Sudan. The team conducted a week-long leadership seminar for community leaders in the Western Equitoria capital city of Yambio, and there are plans for a continued partnership with Kenyan-based Life In Abundance.

Sean and Sharon, his wife of 23 years, are the parents of three children ages 14, 17, and 19.
