Info | HAGEN, Harold Christian, a Representative from Minnesota; born in Crookston, Polk County, Minn., November 10, 1901; attended the public and high schools; was graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., in 1917; engaged in railroading, in agricultural pursuits, and as reporter, editor, and publisher of a Norwegian-language newspaper 1920-1928; taught history and civics at Mandan (N.Dak.) High School in 1928; publisher and editor of the Polk County Leader, Crookston, Minn., 1928-1932; secretary to Hon. Richard T. Buckler 1934-1942; delegate to the National Rivers and Harbors Congress, Washington, D.C., in 1937; elected as a Farmer-Laborite to the Seventy-eighth Congress and as a Republican to the Seventy-ninth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1943-January 3, 1955); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1954 to the Eighty-fourth Congress and for election in 1956 to the Eighty-fifth Congress; engaged in public relations work until his death in Washington, D.C., March 19, 1957; interment in Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, Minn.
