A native of Jackson County, Alabama, Baker graduated from Emma Sansom High School, and attended Jacksonville State on a football scholarship. He then graduated Jackson State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He continued to pursue his education, obtaining his Master's in Education, as well as additional post graduate studies in Education.
Baker has experience in many diverse areas. He was an officer in the United States Infantry and also attended Airborne and Ranger schools. He has also served as a football coach, and the head baseball coach at Anniston High School. Baker was also an R.V. dealer and was involved in commercial real estate. Baker served as the assistant state auditor in Alabama, and currently lives in Anniston.
