InfoBilly Pang is a first-generation Canadian, originally from Hong Kong. Since arriving in Canada in 2000, Billy has worked, lived and studied in the Markham region.

Billy is a lifelong Conservative activist and has been in elected politics for over eight years. Prior to becoming the Member of Provincial Parliament for Markham—Unionville, Mr. Pang was a York Region District School Board Trustee for Wards 2, 3, and 6. He was driven to represent the students and parents of Markham because with two children of his own, the quality of Canada’s education concerns him personally.

Billy ran for provincial parliament to reduce taxes, improve Ontario’s curriculum, and generally make life more affordable for Ontarians. He first served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries (Tourism). Since July 2021, Billy serves as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism.

Billy is passionate about representing and advocating on behalf of Markham—Unionville at Queen’s Park. He has covered a wide range of issues in the legislature, including GO transit access, police oversight, lowering hydro rates, mental health support during the pandemic, and small business recovery planning. In April 2021, he introduced a bill that would name the first week of every June Senior Volunteer Appreciation Week in order to recognize the vibrant community of seniors that give back to our province with volunteer work. Billy understands the importance of recognizing the work of those who make the Markham—Unionville community so special.

His community involvement spans even further than his political experience as he has served the Markham community as a volunteer and leader for various humanitarian organizations and schools in the city.

A long-time resident of Markham—Unionville, Billy is determined to serve his community, as he is passionate about bringing positive changes to this place where he and many others have lived and raised their families harmoniously.
