served in various leadership roles. In 1997 and 2004, he received the Kappa Man of the Year

Commissioner Brooks has served as a one on one mentor in the Memphis City Schools
CONNECT Mentoring Program. He has also been the impetus to involve others at FED
EX in
mentoring. Commissioner Brooks has lead the group to “adopt” four other mentoring
organizations through
-
out Memphis by recruiting volunteers from within FedEx to become
mentors for these organizations. Since 2009 more than 200 FEDEX employees have
signed
up as mentors for these organizations.
Commissioner Brooks
is a Deacon and past Chairman
of the Men’s Ministry at Temple of Deliverance of Church of God In Christ (COGIC).
He
is
married to wife Dianne and has two children, Kemmashela and Willie II
