InfoA dedicated representative of his constituents, Nick Discepola was first elected to the House of Commons in 1993 and re-elected in 1997 and in 2000.

He is currently Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance and a member of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology.

In January 1999, he was appointed by the Prime Minister to the Caucus Task Force on the four Western provinces.

He has served as President of the Quebec Caucus, and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General in February 1996 and again in July 1997. He has also been a member of the Standing Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs.

From 1989 to 1993, Mr. Discepola was mayor of Kirkland, and before that was a town councillor for six years. Dedicated to community service, he was also President of the Economic Development Commission of the Montreal Urban Community, and vice-president of the Island of Montreal Intermunicipal Waste Management Board and the West Island Industrial Development Council.

A successful businessman before entering public life, Mr. Discepola was President and founder of N.D. Computer Resources Limited. In the 1970s, he worked for Bell Canada and the Government of Canada as a computer specialist.

Mr. Discepola obtained a Bachelor of Sciences and a Master of Business Administration from McGill University.

He and his wife, Mary Alice, have four children.
