| Info | My roots are in a military family. My father served in the U S Air Force for 20 plus years. During his duty in Europe, I was born at Bitburg Air Base, Germany. I am the middle of seven children. At a very young age I admired and highly esteemed my father’s character. His servant’s heart is what influenced me the most. After retiring from the military he continued to display this attitude and spirit, which is sadly vanishing in America today. His influence in my life has carried over into my personal desire and goal of always putting others first.
I joined the Air Force in 1977. During my time of service I met my wife, Vicki, to whom I have been married 31 years. We have a son, Michael II, and two daughters, Darcy and Vanessa. Our eldest son, Kevin, passed away in 2004. Collectively they have given us eleven grandchildren. I retired from the military in 1997, while stationed at Grand Forks AFB
My desire is to give glory to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. On January 10, 1987, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Galatians 2:20 states, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me. Without this eternal change in my life, I would not have the love and concern for people that is needed in the office of Secretary of State. I would not have the strength or wisdom to run for this office. Proverbs 3:5, 6 states, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thy own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. I deeply and sincerely desire Christ to guide my life.
