Info | Marlene Catterall was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988 as the M.P. for Ottawa West and won election to the House of Commons for the fourth time in 2000.
Shortly after the 2000 election, she was appointed Chief Government Whip.
She is also a member of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs and a member of the Joint Standing Committee on the Library of Parliament.
Since 1993, Ms. Catterall has served in a number of parliamentary and Caucus positions. She was named Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board in December 1993, and remained there until her appointment as Deputy Government Whip in September 1994.
In Opposition, Ms. Catterall was Critic for Public Service Employment and Staff Relations, Associate Critic for the Environment and Associate Critic for the Status of Women.
Prior to entering federal politics, Ms. Catterall was well-known throughout the region as a City of Ottawa Alderman (Britannia Ward), from 1977 to 1985, and a Councillor with the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton (1977-1985).
Ms. Catterall and her husband Ron have three children.
